Since 1982 the First Unitarian Society of Denver has held an auction of goods and services donated by First Unitarian members and friends. In those 30 years it has gone through a number of iterations and been called by names from the MayFair to the Year of the Rabbit Auction. This year we will be attending the Cinco de Mayo Auction May 5.
This annual auction is our biggest fund raiser and has grown from netting approximately $500 in 1982 to bringing in a profit of over $25,000 in 2011.
But the auction is more than just a money maker for the church. Many of the events offered have become annual must-do activities for our members. A Low-Country shrimp boil with friends, in the back yard of Libby Fay and Dave Mustoe, or an Indian dinner prepared by Nancy Crow and Mark Skrotzki beat any restaurant meal in town.
In addition, nights filled with music, games and just plain fun fill our auction catalogue every year as well as gift baskets, craft & food items, art objects and jewelry to be purchased and taken home the day of the auction. Plan to be a part of our 2012 Cinco de Mayo Auction May 5.
