Gun Violence Prevention

The focus of the Gun Violence Prevention Circle at FUSD is on legislative advocacy. When the State Legislature is in session (from January through May), we monitor all gun bills that are introduced. Working in conjunction with Colorado Faith Communities United to End Gun Violence, we participate in a Rapid Response Network. Interested congregants at FUSD (and other congregations) receive an email with pertinent information about the gun bill in question, with a guide on who to contact at the state house and when. There are also opportunities to testify on these bills.

We also highlight other opportunities for involvement (vigils, protests, cultural events, educational activities, gun buyback programs) related to gun violence prevention in the community.
