"The Meaning of Things Shared" by Rev. Mike Morran
All are invited to bring a sacred or meaningful object this week, and we will share the meanings, stories, and sacredness of the sacred objects.

Time to Imagine

This is the time to “Imagine!our future!  This is our community, and our spiritual home.  There is powerful energy in our church, and you are warmly invited to join in creating the future as we “Imagine! and build on the present.

The Stewardship Committee (formerly known as Canvass Committee) is excited!  Our church is poised for growth in numbers, as well as depth of community, social action, nurturing our children, and providing liberal religious leadership in Denver.  There is much work to be done, and we are just the committed, loving people to make it happen!  We need more resources than ever as we grow and expand our ministries.  Gifts of time, energy, commitment, imagination, and financial resources are all necessary to reach our goals.  We need you(!) to be part of this exciting time in the life of our church!

On Sunday, March 7, the Stewardship Campaign will be officially underway.  There are several ways to be involved.  If you are a member of a CORE Circle, a Steward will be visiting during your March group meeting to pledge each member of the group.  You can also attend one of the Stewardship Potlucks on March 12th or 26th from 6-9pm.  You might also like to request a one-on-one visit from a Steward to support you as you determine your financial commitment for the coming year.

With minds and hearts on the planet, the economy, and our community, we are committed to make this campaign as green as possible.  We hope that everyone will choose to respond promptly to the request to pledge for the 2010-2011 year.  This will enable a dramatic reduction of resources, from financial to human time and energy as fewer hours and resources will be needed to follow up with individuals who have not responded.  We hope that everyone will choose to support and participate in the life and work of the FUSD community.

Please thoughtfully and heart-fully consider your financial contribution.  Our motto is "Give until it feels good!"  When the time comes, complete your Pledge Card, then take a deep breath and smile.  We are all in this together.  Just "Imagine!" the growth, fellowship, and meaningful positive impact we will have together in the coming year!

Sincerely,

The Stewardship Committee

Register Voters With Other Members of FUSD

cvppicThe Community Voters Project is a national non-partisan organization that is working to register historically underrepresented communities. In 2008 they helped to register over 300,000 low income, Latino, African American and youth voters. That was a great start in changing the American electorate, but they need to keep going if we're going to see real change in the issues that affect us all--like our broken health care system, unemployment and quality education.

In Denver this year, they will register 10,000 African Americans to vote! We are looking for volunteers to join them on Saturday, March 14th from 12:30a-4:30p to register voters in neighboring communities.  No previous voter registration experience necessary; we have great training!  Please meet us at First Unitarian, and dress for the weather, as we will be outside.  Come hungry because we’ll provide some food before we head out into the neighborhood!  To RSVP, or if you have questions, please contact Laura Baker of The Community Voters Project at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
